NEW: Hunt on for robbers who stole R16 million, US$80K

A MANHUNT for robbers who broke into Lobels Biscuits offices in Bulawayo on Sunday and got away with over 16 million rand and about US$80 000 has been launched.

In a statement on Monday, police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway.

“On 27 March 2022, police in Bulawayo recorded cases of unlawful entry into premises and theft which occurred at Lobels Biscuits, Belmont, Bulawayo,  where unknown suspects broke into the company offices and proceeded to the accounts office where they broke a safe and stole cash amounting to US$79 819, ZAR 16 739 950, Pula 950, ZWL$110 266 and an HP 250GB Laptop. Investigations are underway.”
