Three illegal miners died on Wednesday after they suffocated to death due to underground gases at Jumbo Mine in Mazowe.
Six other gold panners managed to escape.
In a statement the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the incident.
“The ZRP reports the death of three people at SOS, Jumbo Mine, Mazowe on 9 March.
“The victims together with six other illegal miners entered a mine shaft in a bid to prospect for gold ore,” said ZRP.
“The trio suffocated to death due to underground gases while six others managed to escape.
“Meanwhile four of the survivors who escaped were taken to Concession Hospital after being affected by the gas.”
