TRENDSETTING gospel choir, The Vine, will on Saturday celebrate a decade of ministering through a gospel concert.
The event themed “Great is Thy Faithfulness”, will be a celebration of not just 10 years of ministry, but also The Vine’s trailblazing approach to gospel music.
Some of the artistes scheduled to join the Vine Choir on stage include renowned musicians such as Jekalyn Carr and Vashawn Mitchell from America and Annatoria from the United Kingdom, as well as some locals.
The event will feature a magnificent ensemble, including a 100-piece orchestra from Johannesburg, a 30-piece brass section, a 30-member choir and 30 children from the Adventist Pathfinders.
Since the formation of The Vine, the choir has been a driving force on the local gospel music scene.
Their pulsating compositions, innovative music videos and electrifying album launches have not only marked a resolute journey of ministry, but also a decade of pushing boundaries and reshaping the genre.
“We are excited to mark this significant milestone with a special concert that will also be recorded for a commemorative DVD release later this year,” said Everton Mlalazi, the founder and director of The Vine in a statement.
Over the years, the choir has worked with big names in the industry, among them South African musicians Mabongi Mabaso, Mahalia Buchanan and Grammy-award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir.
“We express our heartfelt appreciation for the blessings and opportunities that have brought us to this momentous occasion,” said Mlalazi.
The concert is being held for free at the Harare International Conference Centre, courtesy of the sponsorship obtained to facilitate the programme.
Those attending the event just have to register to secure a seat.
The Vine was founded in 2014 and released its debut album “Musandipfuure” in 2018.
A live-recorded 12-track album, “The Great Physician” (2022), then followed.
