JBC head coach, Addison Chiware, is brimming with confidence as he prepares his side to unleash an onslaught on Arcadia in Mabvuku on Saturday, in their quest to maintain their dominance in the Harare Basketball Association Women’s A League.
Chiware’s team are in a good position to claim the HBA league title after beating seasoned campaigners Raiders who were rallying behind their back.
They are leading the race after nine rounds of fixtures.
The former national team coach however told The Sunday Mail Sports that he anticipates a tough assignment given that the first meeting between the two sides was a close encounter.
“It’s always a good sign when a gaffer is making history but it means we have to pay attention to detail in this fixture.
“JBC women have actually risen from position seven to five. Our thoughts are to amass as many points as possible in the reverse fixtures and possibly get to the national league qualifiers in good form,” said Chiware
JBC are one of the clubs that have benefited from the disbanding of former champions Harare City Hornets.
“We have Juliet who has been nursing an injury since she came back to us; she is on a good recovery path.
“The other player is the veteran, Patience Chinhoyi, who is also on a recovery to full match fitness. These two have brought a wealth of experience, which we will benefit from.
“For the Sunday game, Juliet is out. Patience and Pamela will face a late fitness test, but as a coach you always love to have everyone fit so that you select the best for the game,” he said.
