NEW: Major water leak leaves Bulawayo dry

BULAWAYO will experience water supply interruptions beginning Wednesday until Friday due to a leak on the Flowserve raw water line.

In a statement on Tuesday, the City of Bulawayo said only industry will be guaranteed water supply while domestic users have been advised to prepare for severe water supply interruptions.

“This is due to a major leak on the Flowserve raw water line between Ncema Waterworks and Fernhill Booster Stations,” reads the statement.

“Accordingly, this will result in reduced treatment and clear water production from Wednesday, 31 July 2024 to 1 August 2024.

“To protect the reservoirs from collapsing due to reduced treatment and production, the City of Bulawayo will temporarily suspend the shedding schedule and cut-off supply to all city areas except for industry and the Central Business District until the said maintenance works are completed and treatment resumes.”
