ZIMBABWE continues to make progress in the fight against malaria after recording a 55 percent decline in malaria-related deaths for the year 2022.
The development comes as the country commemorated World Malaria Day on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) said measures are being put in place to reduce malaria cases in vulnerable communities.
“Zimbabwe celebrates a significant decline in malaria cases and deaths. Malaria cases have declined by 68,6 percent from 447 381 cases in 2020 to 140 170 in 2022,” reads the statement.
“Deaths declined by nearly 55,5 percent from 400 in 2020 to 178 in 2022.”
