A 65-YEAR-OLD man from Sarunetu Village under Chief Zimunya recently appeared in court for allegedly raping his neighbour’s 14-year-old daughter.

Luke Musimwa pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody to October 3.

Mutare magistrate, Ms Prisca Manhibi presided over the matter.

Prosecuting, Mr Thurston Mubvumbi said Musimwa allegedly sent the girl to his bedroom to collect his shoes.

“He then followed her and raped her once. The accused threatened the girl with unspecified action if she revealed the rape to anyone,” said Mr Mubvumbi.

Mr Mubvumbi said the matter only came to light when the girl’s mother noticed a change in her behaviour.

Upon being quizzed, she spilled the beans.

A police report was made, leading to Musimwa’s arrest.
