A Harare man has been barred from selling a family house without his wife’s approval.

The development came to light at the Harare Magistrates’ Court, where Maonei Magaso sought a protection order against her husband, Crispen Musavengana.

Magaso claimed that Musavengana had already sold all their family vehicles without her consent and was now attempting to sell their house.

“He is selling off our properties one by one without my consent, but he is failing to pay school fees for the children and is not contributing to their welfare. He insults me constantly, calling me a witch,” she said

Musavengana admitted to selling their assets but dismissed her concerns.

“I believe my wife is being dramatic and exaggerating the situation,” he said.

Presiding Magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam ruled in favour of Magaso, restraining Musavengana from selling any more property, including their house, without her consent.

The court also ordered him to financially support their children’s education and well-being.
