NEW: Man murders father

POLICE are investigating a murder case in which a 77-year-old Bikita man was stoned to death by his son, who is suspected to have a mental illness. 

In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of the suspect. 

“The ZRP is investigating a murder case which occurred on February 28, in Taruona Village, Bikita where a suspected mental patient, Austin Nhengo (36) fatally assaulted his Father Mutinini Nhengo (77) with a stone several times on the head. 

“The suspect followed the victim to a maize field and attacked him for an undisclosed reason. 

“Meanwhile, police have arrested the suspect and recovered the stone which was used by the suspect in the commission of the offence.”
