NEW: Mapeza names final squad for AFCON

Online Reporter

WARRIORS coach Norman Mapeza has dropped striker Knox Mutizwa, as well as the Dynamos FC duo of Bill Antonio and Taimon Mvula from the squad that left for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals on Wednesday morning.

The late inclusion of Iceland-based midfielder Kundai Benyu meant Mapeza had to drop seven players to come up with his final 23.

Benyu is flying direct to Cameroon just like skipper Knowledge Musona, Tino Kadewere, Admiral Muskwe, Alec Mudimu and David Moyo.

There was no place on the plane for Cranborne Bullets hopeful Tapiwa Sibanda, who appeared to have won Mapeza’s heart during the training sessions held from Sunday at the National Sports Stadium.

Unheralded Chicken Inn midfielder Shepherd Mhlanga, FC Platinum’s 19-year-old winger Panashe Mutimbanyoka and JDR Stars’ Temptation Chiunga were also dropped.
