Mashonaland Central Bureau
THE Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) recently held the final provincial consultative meeting in Mashonaland Central on the development of the second National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS2), reaffirming the nation’s collective resolve to eradicate corruption and promote good governance.
The meeting, held in Bindura, brought together Government officials, traditional leaders, representatives from civil society, youth, academia and the private sector.
It aimed to gather input from all sectors of society to strengthen Zimbabwe’s anti-corruption framework in line with Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Christopher Magomo reiterated the Government’s commitment to transparency, accountability and ethical leadership.
“The Second Republic, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has made it clear that the attainment of Vision 2030 requires every citizen to play their part with honesty and integrity,” he said.
Corruption, Minister Magomo said, undermines development, weakens institutions and erodes public trust.
He called for strengthened systems that promote transparency and efficient service delivery.
ZACC chairperson Mr Michael Reza said the consultative meetings held across all the 10 provinces had enriched the commission’s understanding of the multifaceted nature of corruption.
“The insights gathered will help us develop a practical and inclusive strategy rooted in accountability and shared responsibility,” said Mr Reza.
“NACS2 will establish clear priorities, define measurable targets and assign responsibilities to ensure full implementation.”
He emphasised that fighting corruption goes beyond drafting strategies, calling for sustained effort, moral courage and collaboration across all sectors.
The meeting underscored the importance of including diverse perspectives, from traditional leaders and faith-based organisations to the youth and academic researchers, to create a robust framework capable of addressing evolving corruption trends.
Participants commended the Government’s ongoing efforts to protect whistleblowers and strengthen institutions that uphold integrity and transparency in public service delivery.
As the consultation phase concludes, the draft NACS2 will be refined and validated before its official adoption as a national strategy.
