NEW: Mashonaland Central records 155 malaria cases

TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-ONE malaria cases and one death were recorded in the week ending August 11, Government has said.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health and Child Care indicated that of the reported cases, 29 were from children under the age of five.

“The provinces that reported the highest number of cases were Mashonaland Central with 155 cases and Manicaland with 45 cases.

“The cumulative figures for malaria cases are now 33 240 and 69 deaths,” reads the statement.

Meanwhile, 276 dysentery cases and zero deaths were reported in the same period, with Manicaland province recording 55 cases.

“The provinces that reported the highest number of clinical dysentery cases were Manicaland province recorded 55 cases and Masvingo province recorded 54 cases.

“The Disease Surveillance Report for the week ending August 11, 2024 shows that Zimbabwe has not reported any case or death from mpox.”
