NEW: Mbare traders verification exercise begins

THE Government has begun a verification exercise of over 4 000 traders set to be relocated to a temporary market following the fire incident that destroyed stalls and stocks in October last year.

The verification exercise will run from January 10 to January 19,2025 at Makombe building in Harare.

In a statement, the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works said: The Government in conjunction with City of Harare hereby provides the initial list of traders affected by the fire incident of October 8, 2024, which resulted in the loss of stalls and stocks.

“This is a verification process being undertaken in preparation for the relocation of traders to the temporary market.

“Starting January 10, 2025, please bring your ID for verification.”

President Mnangagwa declared the incident a State of Disaster and Government has started construction of a new and bigger marketplace.
