INFORMATION, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa has assured villagers in Muchena area of Penhalonga that an amicable solution will be found for them not to be displaced from the area.

More than 500 households in Muchena under Mutasa South constituency are facing displacement since the area is a farm owned by a local church.

Speaking during a clean-up campaign at Muchena Business Centre this morning, Minister Mutsvangwa, who is also ZANU PF Women’s League’s national secretary for administration, said a solution to see a win-win situation for both parties involved will be reached soon.

“I have heard about the challenge that the people in this area are facing. I want to assure you that an amicable solution will be found to see to it that you will not be displaced. This is the advantage of having revolutionary party cadres as your leaders. Your challenges are easily communicated and solutions provided. I will also support the move at Cabinet level when it comes through the normal Government channels,” she said.

Cde Mutsvangwa was responding to a plea made during the same function by Mutasa South constituency by-election ZANU PF candidate, Advocate Misheck Mugadza.

Minister Mutsvangwa lashed out at local authorities for collecting money from residents without giving them quality service delivery.

“We are having challenges with urban local authorities countrywide. They are very active when it comes to the collection of money and disconnecting supply of essential services, but they are not doing anything to improve service delivery in our urban areas. They have destroyed our urban areas and as a party we are now geared to ensure that this comes to an end. The electorate is now very clear about what they want in these urban areas,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.
