FOUR people lost cash and valuables with a combined value of over US$1 200 at gunpoint after they were offered a lift to Gweru by a private vehicle.

The incident took place on Sunday around 3:45pm just before Norton.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the armed robbery, but the suspects are still to be arrested.

“Police are investigating a robbery case in which four complainants were robbed of US$ 250 cash, four cell phones and other valuables, all valued at US$1 210, after they boarded a blue Nissan Sylph which had two occupants, at Harare Show grounds on March 13, 2022 at around 15:45 hours,” he said.

“The vehicle was destined for Gweru and along the way at the 36 km peg (Harare-Bulawayo Road), the driver diverted the route and turned left into a dust road where they threatened the complainants with an unidentified pistol and stole the valuables before they dumped the complainants and sped off towards Harare.”
