NEW: Mother Touch baseball and basketball teams to tour USA

Zimpapers Sports Hub
BASKETBALL and Baseball teams from Mother Touch Group of Schools (MTGS) are set to tour the United States next year for a sports exchange programme.
The touring party will consist of 24 players, comprising the institution’s boys’ and girls’ teams.
They will tour the US as part of the school’s policy to expose students to international competition.
With nine players from the school having returned from the Baseball Five World Cup Regional qualifiers with a silver medal, the school’s chief executive officer Ms Salome Mutsinze said the exchange programme was the next stop.
“We always strive to give our learners exposure and arrange international tours every year to places like the United Kingdom and other countries,” she said.
“We are glad to announce that on the list of the countries we are set to introduce next is the United States of America, and more specifically Texas.
“In 2025, our baseball and basketball teams will participate in invitational tournaments there.”
Ms Mutsinze said the teams were set to hold training camps before participating in an invitational tournament where the players stand a chance of being rewarded with scholarships.
“These are not ordinary tours. The children who excel in the sporting events during the tours stand a chance of being rewarded with scholarships so that they can pursue their dreams,” she said.
“As a school, our mission is to create a conducive environment for every child. We understand that not every child is good academically, some are talented in sports, art and other disciplines.”
