NEW: Mushikashika robberies on the rise

IN yet another robbery involving illegal taxi operators popularly known as “mushikashika”, a 28-year-old man lost US$1 200 to four robbers who had offered him transport in Ngundu.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the complainant had boarded the suspects’ vehicle in Masvingo heading to Beitbridge before the robbers took all his money.

“On June 6, 2022, ZRP Ngundu received a report of robbery in which the complainant (28) lost US$1 200 cash to four robbers along Ngundu-Tanganda Road near Banga Irrigation Scheme,” said police.

“The complainant had boarded the suspects’ vehicle, a Toyota Elgrand, in Masvingo intending to travel to Beitbridge …”

Police are now appealing for information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects.
