A Harare man has approached the court seeking legal relief from an abusive neighbour.

Passmore Nyakudya (45) appeared at the Harare Civil Court on Friday, seeking a peace order against his neighbour, Dadirai Takawira (38).

Nyakudya alleged that Takawira had subjected him to a campaign of harassment, including repeated threats, insults and causing false arrests.

He claimed that Takawira threatened to orchestrate his second arrest and has consistently hurled insults at him.

“She insulted me many times and threatened to cause my arrest anytime, so I am scared because her husband had a high rank in the military. She has a habit of sending her children to insult me,” he said.

Takawira denied the claims and argued that her neighbour assaulted her for reprimanding him to take care of his poultry.

“He came to my yard and assaulted me after I told him to take care of his free-range chickens. He has to keep his property on his premises,” she said.

The presiding magistrate, Ms Meenal Narotam, ordered Takawira not to insult or threaten  Nyakudya with violence.
