A new state-of-the-art hotel will emerge after the 44th SADC Heads of State and Government Summit to be hosted next month, with villas currently under construction to accommodate high-level delegates in Mt Hampden set to form part of the hotel.
In a post on his X handle, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwana said: “Once the summit is over, the villas will be part of a hotel. The conference centre will also be part of the hotel. The hotel will also have a golf course.”
All these developments, he added, are supposed to motivate development around the new city.
Twelve single-storey villas out of the 18 under construction are expected to be complete by the end of this month.
The remaining six double-storey villas and conference centre, also under development, will be completed before the summit begins.
Materials to construct the 18 villas and conference centre in Mt Hampden were sourced from Abu Dhabi, with the last shipment expected in Beira, Mozambique, this week.
