CLOUDY to partly cloudy conditions are expected around the southern parts of the country as the current downpours are expected to end on Saturday.

Harare Metropolitan, Mashonaland, Manicaland and Midlands provinces might experience isolated thunder showers.

The prevailing cloud system resulted in heavy rains across the country since last week.

According to the latest Meteorological Services Department (MSD) weather report, several places have received rainfall above 50mm.

The highest measured falls were recorded in Gokwe, reaching 116mm, Concession 114mm, Henderson 97mm, Nkayi 82mm, Zvimba 80mm, Kwekwe 79mm, Sanyati 78mm, Marondera 70mm, Chivhu 66mm, Buhera 66mm, Murambinda 63mm, Royal Harare Golf 57mm, Marirangwe 52mm, Wedza 51mm and Crowborough 50mm.

“The prevailing cloud system is expected to persist across much of the country as the cloud band moves further east and the high-pressure system is still affecting the southern parts of the country,” said MSD in a statement.

“Heavy downpours in excess of 50mm are still anticipated in places, especially areas along and to the east of the central watershed.”
