THE Government will continue to address the country’s skills gap through training and empowerment initiatives that enhance national development and productivity, President Mnangagwa has said.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the Joint Command and Staff Course (38), President Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe will continue to provide the requisite skills and knowledge that foster security and peace across the region.

The ceremony was held at Zimbabwe Staff College in Harare with 74 officers graduating.

“This event, among other milestones, bears testimony to the achievement of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces as one of our country’s strategic institutions,” he said.

“As Government, we continue to address manpower and the skills gap through the requisite education, training and capacity management.

“In line with this quest, I congratulate the Zimbabwe Defence Forces for always being responsive to the evolving planning requirements of this ceremony.

“This has ensured that the Zimbabwe Defence Forces remain a source of inspiration within the broader local and regional security and ecosystem.”

Students were drawn from the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Zimbabwe Defence Forces and Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service.

Students from African countries such as Nigeria, Botswana, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia were among the graduates.

President Mnangagwa urged the graduates to ensure that lessons learnt during their study period are passed on to their respective countries.

The ceremony was attended by Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, senior Zimbabwe Defence Forces officers and Chinese military training officers.
