NEW: President Mnangagwa to launch Youth Service in Zimbabwe on Friday

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa on Friday heads to Uzumba, Mashonaland East Province, where he will preside over the launch of the Youth Service in Zimbabwe at Nhakiwa Vocational Training Centre.

This comes after Vice President Kembo Mohadi, as the Chairperson of the Cabinet Committee on State Occasions and National Monuments, presented a report on the launch of the programme to Cabinet.

Speaking during a post-Cabinet media briefing on Tuesday, Information  Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere said the launch was running under the theme “ Empower Youth: Secure the Future”.

“The launch of the Youth Service in Zimbabwe programme will take place at Nhakiwa Vocational Training Centre in the Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe district of Mashonaland East Province on 24 May 2024,” he said.

“Running under the theme, “Empower Youth: Secure the Future”, the event will be graced by His Excellency President Mnangagwa, who will deliver the keynote address.”

During the event, President Mnangagwa will interact with youths from various backgrounds.

The major objective of the programme is to promote vocational skills among vulnerable youths, while increasing their economic participation.

About 50 000 youths are expected to attend the event.
