NEW: President Mnangagwa to preside over Regional World Children’s Day celebrations

PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA is set to preside over Regional World Children’s Day celebrations set for Baobab Primary School here in Victoria Falls, Matabeleland North province.

The commemorations, jointly organised by the Government of Zimbabwe and UNICEF, are being held under the theme “Educate and Skill the African Child for Posterity”.

About 8 000 children from six SADC countries —  Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zambia —  are attending the event.

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister July Moyo said: “In the evening, there will be a monumental lighting of the Flame of Hope on the ‘No Man’s Land’ on the Victoria Falls Bridge officiated by Vice President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga.”
