Zimbabwe cricket’s man of the moment Sikandar Raza continues to get recognition for his exploits in the Chevrons’ colours.

The 36-year-old has been shortlisted for the October International Cricket Council (ICC) Player of the Month accolade, with the Zimbabwe all-rounder expected to battle it out with India’s Virat Kohli and South Africa batter David Miller.

This comes barely three months after he made history by becoming the first Zimbabwean cricketer to win the prestigious ICC accolade in August.

Raza started the month with a sensational performance at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup first-round match against Ireland.

In that game, he hit a 47-ball 82 runs, which were coupled with bowling figures of one for 22 to ensure Zimbabwe started off their World Cup campaign on a winning note.

The Pakistan-born cricketer continued his exploits with another all-round performance against Scotland.

Raza scored 40 runs from 23 deliveries, before recording bowling figures of 1-20 in the same match.

His performance was pivotal in Zimbabwe’s first-time qualification into the second round of the ICC T20 World Cup competition.

The Zimbabwe talisman is expected to battle it out for the award with Kohli, who amassed 205 T20I runs in October at a mind-boggling average of 205.

The former India captain also had an outstanding strike rate of 150.73.

Rounding up the list is South Africa’s batter David Miller, who amassed 303 runs during the period in consideration.

He operated at an average of 303 and scored his runs at an equally good strike rate of 146.37.
