NEW: Saul Chaminuka appointed new Rhinos coach

Former ZPC Kariba coach Saul Chaminuka has bounced back into the local football premiership after being appointed as Black Rhinos’ new substantive head coach.

Chaminuka is set to replace Stanford ‘Stix’ Mutizwa, who has been re-assigned to the role of technical advisor.

Black Rhinos vice chairperson Colonel Edward Mutukwa confirmed the development, saying the restructuring of the technical team had been necessitated by a string of poor results.

“The restructuring has been necessitated by the team’s poor performances, which have come as a cause for concern to the executive and all associated with the team.

“It was necessary to restructure and gain the confidence of our sponsors and fans,” said Colonel Mutukwa.

He confirmed the appointment of Chaminuka.

“Our choice of Saul Chaminuka as the head coach was premised on his rich history and excellent curriculum vitae.

“He has vast experience in the coaching capacity of local and regional clubs, as well as the Zimbabwe national team.

“We remain convinced that he will be able to transform our team into a competitive outfit.”

Chaminuka will be deputised by former Manica Diamonds assistant coach Christopher Mwanza, while Maxwell Nyamupanedengu comes in as the goalkeeper’s coach.

Black Rhinos currently sit second from the bottom of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with five points from seven matches.
