Schools will now open on February 7, while the curfew has been shifted from 9pm to midnight following a sustained drop in coronavirus cases.
In a statement on Friday, acting Minister of Health and Child Care, Professor Amon Murwira, said the fourth wave of the pandemic is now under control.
“In this regard, the Acting President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr Constantino Chiwenga, has reviewed the Covid-19 Level 2 national lockdown.
“The general school calendar starts on February 7, 2022, following one week of finalising all reopening preparations by both school administrators and parents,” he said.
Businesses will continue to operate while observing Covid-19 prevention measures.
The curfew will now be running from 12am to 5.30am.
“Restaurants and hotels offering catering services to operate from 8am and close at 10pm and allow sit-ins only for fully vaccinated persons.
“Bars and nightclubs shall open from 8am to 10pm only for vaccinated persons and that all persons entering Zimbabwe must undergo a valid Covid-19 PCR test not more than 48 hours from the time of their departure for Zimbabwe.”
Those without a valid negative PCR test and a certificate to that effect, he said, shall be denied entry into Zimbabwe.
Quarantine for locals, returning residents and visitors no longer applies to the fully vaccinated.
Wearing face masks in public places, especially public transport and closed space gatherings, remains mandatory.
