A 78-year-old Kuwadzana woman has claimed that her stepdaughter locks her outside her own home and accuses her of being a witch.

Mrs Judith Muchawa made these allegations at the Harare Civil Court on Tuesday.

The elderly woman told the court that her step-daughter Ms Silvia Machava has been locking her out of her matrimonial home, which was left behind by her late husband.

“Silvia claims that I am a witch and that l use juju on her as she has had two miscarriages. She attempts to chase me from my own house,” she said.

Ms Machava denied the claims and said her stepmother is not always at home on her own accord, as she is now married to another man.

“She is married in Domboshava. She is the one who always says that l should move out of the house,” she said.

Presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam dismissed the case and advised Mrs Muchawa to visit the appropriate court to resolve the property dispute.
