NEW: Man accused of stealing from sisters to satisfy drug addiction

A Harare man has brought his three sisters before the Harare Civil Court over their insults, but the siblings say he has been stealing from them to buy drugs.

“I am pleading with the court to grant me a protection order,” said Tribio Galio, adding that the trio has been emotionally abusing him, calling him names.

“My sisters insult and harass me. Sometimes they do so over the phone, disturbing my peace. As a result of the abuse, I have started taking drugs.”

In response, his sisters said Galio was a threat to them due to his addiction to drugs.

They said he had been stealing from them and vandalising family property to satisfy his addiction.

“There is no reason to abuse our brother as he is claiming because we love him. He is our only brother, but he is stealing from us and buying drugs,” said Rosemary Galio.

Magistrate Meenal Narotam dismissed Tribio’s application for a protection order.
