A suspected serial rapist has been arrested in Dzivarasekwa, Harare over allegations that he sexually abused several minors over the past three years.
It is alleged that the suspect would take victims to his room where he would play pornographic videos before abusing them.
In a statement on Thursday, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of the suspect.
“On 22 June 2022, police in Dzivarasekwa arrested Simon Ben (32) for several cases of rape and aggravated indecent assault committed from 2019 to June 22, 2022, in Dzivarasekwa, Harare.
“The suspect would lure neighboring girls between the ages of 9 and 12 to his room, where he would play pornographic videos before abusing the minors.”
Asst Comm Nyathi said so far, five victims have come forward, after one of the girls revealed the matter to her mother.
