GOVERNMENT will embrace new technologies in construction of houses, as it moves to ease the national housing backlog, National Housing and Social Amenities Minister Daniel Garwe has said.

In an interview, Minister Garwe said use of new technologies has been adopted in other countries and it has proven to be effective.

“We are aware that using the brick-and-mortar strategy will take us more than 20 years to achieve our objective.

“So, the Government migrated from only using brick and mortar strategies to application of new technologies in housing delivery.

“We developed some technologies and consulted countries abroad, who are already using these technologies like Dubai and South Africa,” said Minister Garwe.

Minister Garwe said his Ministry floated tenders for developers to join Government in the delivery strategy.
