RETIRED Zimbabwean-born rugby star Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira has launched a transformative Pan-African female-focused leadership and education initiative through his philanthropic organisation The Beast Foundation.

Dubbed “Lead Like a Girl”, the initiative has admitted the first group of female students, who will receive education financing, high-level sports training and mentorship.

In a statement on Tuesday, The Beast Foundation chairperson Mr Tendai Mtawaria said the organisation is a collective effort to uplift young women and foster positive change in underserved communities across Africa.

“Arising from a partnership established in July 2023 between The Beast Foundation and Elyseum, this visionary programme is geared towards creating a brighter future by fostering leadership skills and generating opportunities for success among younger women in marginalised communities,” said Mr Mtawarira.

“Together, with the support of our partners and the dedication of our team, we are laying the foundation for a generation of empowered and resilient young women who will undoubtedly leave an indelible mark on the world.”
