While Chitungwiza is hosting the provincial commemorations, the main celebrations are being held in Maphisa, Matabeleland South province, where President Mnangagwa is the guest of honour.

The atmosphere is already electric and the venue has become a sea of national colours.

As early as 8am, long, winding queues had already formed around the school perimeter.
