New: Tobacco sales reach US$32 million

Tobacco sales have generated over US$32 million since the beginning of the marketing season two weeks ago, Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) has said.

This comes after a total of 11 million kgs of the golden leaf were sold at an average of US$2,96.

About 132 229 bales have been sold since the beginning of the marketing season.

Auction floors have taken delivery of nearly 2 million kgs while contractors contributed 9 million kgs.

The highest price achieved to date is US$5,55 per kg, while the lowest price was US$0.10.
