AS the country joins the rest of the world in commemorating International Women’s Day, calls have been made for various stakeholders to promote gender equality and afford women a chance to lead in different spheres.

Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council provincial marketing and communications officer, Mr Daniel Maromo said women are capable of making a positive impact when meaningfully involved in developmental initiatives.

“Women and girls are effective and can be influential leaders. Through their involvement and participation, they can make a difference. As this year’s theme of the International Women’s Day suggests, a sustainable tomorrow will be elusive without gender equality today,” he said.

He added that it is important to break the gender bias in homes, schools, churches, workplaces and communities in order to achieve equality.
