TRADITIONAL and faith healers who fall under the auspices of the Zimbabwe National Practitioners (ZINPA) will on August 31 take part in a cancer training and awareness campaign as part of the association’s efforts to fight the disease.
ZINPA is conducting the workshop and training programme as part of its belated World Cancer Day commemorations.
The programmes are being coordinated by the association in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
World Cancer Day is an international day marked on February 4 to raise cancer awareness and to encourage its prevention, detection and treatment.
ZINPA president Bishop Cuthbert Nyaruvenda explained why the association decided to conduct the awareness campaign and training programme.
“We are registering new members and these members need to be trained on how to handle cancer patients. Awareness campaigns and training programmes are sure ways of equipping new members with the knowledge they must have,” Nyaruvenda said.
Across the world, herbal medicine is one of the most commonly used complementary and alternative therapies by people with cancer.
