NEW: Transitional armed robbers shot

TWO members of a gang of transitional armed robbers were shot dead on Tuesday, while exchanging fire with police in Harare.

They were raided at a lodge where they were booked with the intention to commit various crimes before returning to their base in South Africa.

Jabulani Ngobeni (45) of No. 40 Riverside Estate, Tzannen, South Africa was shot dead during a shoot-out with police at a lodge located in Arcadia, Harare during the raid.

His accomplices-Ndiafhi Makhado (39), Andrew Masubelele (38), Emmanuel Makamo (22) all of South Africa and Zimbabwean Paul Zhou (55) of 1983 Mainway Meadows, Waterfalls, Harare were injured during the shoot-out.

Godknows Machingura (44) who was residing at No.4 Stone Close, Edensville, Johannesburg, South Africa was also shot dead while trying to return fire on detectives who tracked him from Shamva where he had gone to make a surveillance on a Chinese national they wanted to rob.

The injured suspected armed robbers are expected to appear in court on Thursday.
