NEW: Tribunal on Justice Mushore case set

Online Reporter

President Mnangagwa has sworn in a three-member tribunal to investigate misconduct allegations against High Court judge Justice Edith Mushore.

The tribunal is chaired by retired judge Justice Maphios Cheda while Mr Charles Warara and Mrs Yvonne Masvora are the other members.

In a tweet, the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services said recommendations to investigate Justice Mushore came from the Judicial Service Commission after she failed to report for duty for nine months.

“The recommendations were done in terms of Section 187 (1) and (3) of the Constitution to determine if the judge is still mentally  and physically fit to continue working,” reads part of the update.

Section 187 (1) of the Constitution provides that a judge may be removed from office only for inability to perform the functions of his or her office due to mental or physical incapacity, gross incompetence or gross misconduct.
