NEW: Trio up for theft

A 42-year-old woman and two brothers appeared in court last week facing three counts of unlawful entry.

Beata Tsonziwa, Tanaka Chidzvondo (35) and Batsirai Chidzvondo (32) were charged with theft when they appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Yeukai Dzuda.

Prosecutor Ms Ruvimbo Matyatya told the court that on the first count, the trio allegedly raided a home in Marlborough on August 21 and got away with cash and other valuables.

“Upon entry, they unlawfully took property, namely HP225 laptop, Ipad Pro, all valued at $304 750 knowing that Lilian Nyangoni might be deprived of that ownership,” she said.

“On January 19, 2022, the gang went on and stormed Zenzo Samukange’s house in Avondale and took property, namely HP Probook and 4×20 litres petrol coupons, all valued at $123 375.

“On the third count, on January 24, 2022, in Avondale, they robbed Hilton Chingosho and took property valued at $84 000.”

The trio has been remanded in custody.

Bail hearing is set for February 11.
