MABVUKU Ward 21 Councillor Scott Sakupwanya has pledged food hampers worth US$100 000 over the next two months for registered voters in Mabvuku.
The businessman, who has since started a weekly football tournament in his ward in a bid to fight drug abuse among youths, on Thursday said all registered voters will get food hampers starting this month.
“If a family has 10 registered voters, each and everyone is going to benefit from the hampers,” he said.
“In total, we will be spending a total of US$100 000 every two months.”
Through his efforts, the Mabvuku-Tafara area now has refuse collection trucks.
He has also pledged to construct a tarred road that will run through the high-density suburb.
“Our road network has become so poor. I promise you that this year we are going to rehabilitate the main road starting from Mabvuku turn-off from Mutare Road right up to Tafara,” he said.
