NEW: Uzumba man gets 10-month jail term for indecent assault

FORTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Artwell Kanganga of Mhosva village in Uzumba, Mashonaland East province, has been jailed for an effective 10 months for indecent assault.

Mutawatawa magistrate Mr Obedience Matara sentence Kanganga to 12 months in prison, with two months suspended on condition of good behaviour.

The court heard that on February 12, 2024, at Mhosva village, Chief Nyajina, Uzumba, Kanganga unlawfully fondled a 13-year-old’s breasts and touched her private parts.

The assault happened when the complainant was at home, while Kanganga was on his way to his homestead.

He touched the teenager while she was sitting alone on a bedroom verandah.

When the girl asked Kanganga why he was acting in that manner, he threatened her to be silent and not to tell her mother, who was in the bedroom.

But the accused called her mother, who came to her rescue and filed a police report, leading to his arrest.
