A woman appeared in court alleging that her ex-husband verbally abused her and intentionally infected her with HIV.

Yemurai Basera made the allegations at Harare Civil Court on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old woman told the magistrate that her ex-husband,Paul Sakuvingwa, insulted her in public and did not disclose his status before their marriage.

“He insults me whenever we meet, even in public. He did not tell me that he was HIV positive when we got married. He calls me a prostitute and that is where I get infected,” she said.

In defense, Sakuvingwa argued that Basera was lying.

“Those lies are the same cause of our separation. I do not have HIV,” he said.

Presiding magistrate Ms Meenal Narotam ordered Sakuvingwa not to insult or threaten Basera.
