NEW: Woman throws baby in Blair toilet

A newly-born baby died yesterday after she was allegedly thrown into a Blair toilet by her mother in Guruve.

The baby’s dead body was retrieved by police and taken to Guruve Hospital Mortuary for a post mortem.

Evernice Mugwira (23) who is the baby’s mother, resides at Camsasa farm in Guruve and is now in police custody.

In a statement, national police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.

“The suspect was arrested and detained at Guruve Police Station. It was a sad development. Investigations are still underway,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
