Zimbabwe’s leading entertainment powerhouse – C&A Entertainment — in partnership with Chipaz Promotions are the promoters behind the show.

Templeman, who is C&A Entertainment’s spokesperson, confirmed Popcaan’s visit and said everything was in order.

“I can confirm that we have clinched a contract with Popcaan for a major gig on December 31.
“We are bringing Popcaan for the first time in Africa and all is in place with preparations for the event at an advance stage,” said Templeman.

Templeman revealed that the Jamaican dancehall artiste will jet into the country with a delegation of five other people.

“The “Coolie Gal” hitmaker will arrive in Zimbabwe on December 29 with a delegation of five other people and will deliver his performance on New Year’s Eve,” said Templeman.

The visiting star will be supported by local dancehall artistes who include Winky D, Ricky Fire, Guspy Warrior, Dadza D and Mic Inity.

On the turntable will be talents in the form of DJs Mighty Ducks, Garry B, Ash Styles, Barry B, Luwa Luwa, Smiley and Epherton B billed to be among selectors of the day making the fiesta colourful.

Popcaan was born Jason Newman in July 15, 1988 and is originally from St Thomas, Jamaica.
He relocated to Portmore at the age of seven, growing up in a housing scheme called Three West aka “Gangsta City”.

Popcaan’s songs include “Fry Yiy”, “Badmind a Kill Dem”, “She A Gwaan Good”, “Coolie Gal”, “The System”, “Diss Mi Friend”, “Ravin”,  and “Party” Shot amaong others.

The success of the Mr Vegas concert beefed up C&A’s ability to bring in foreign acts.

Such a track record has made C&A Entertainment a cut above other promotional companies.
Over the past couple of years Zimbabwe has hosted a cocktail of international stars with Jamaicans leading the pack.
