A local tourism marketing company, Yanrong Marketing Services trading as Club Likoma has announced plans to host a New Year’s Eve gig at Umzingwane Recreational Park which is on the Umzingwane Dam.
The company is using the gig to step up its campaign to promote the venue as a tourist attraction. Club Likoma is working with other tourism players to market not just the leisure park, but also the district as a potential tourism destination especially for domestic tourists.
The company’s spokesperson, Mr Andile Moyo said he and his team were putting final touches to the event they have dubbed ‘Tick Tock: The Great Camp Out’ which is an end of year celebration gig to promote various camp sites at the venue.
He said the event will feature various performances by singers, poets, dancers and DJs.
“We are almost done finalising plans to host Tick Tok at Umzingwane Recreational Park at Umzingwane Dam.
The event is to celebrate life and time while, most importantly, showcasing the Umzingwane District as a potential tourist destination,” Mr Moyo said.
“We will have live performances from DJs, singers, poets and much much more to entertain our guests on the day and night. It’s a family event that will start in the afternoon and depending on Covid-19 restrictions in place on the day, well into the New Year.”
He added. “We want to promote and market Umzingwane as a tourism and leisure option for Bulawayo and the entire Southern Region.”
Umzingwane Recreational Park is a scenic venue that has been under-utilised in recent times.
Major attractions include its scenic environment, the dam itself with its fishing opportunities, boat rides, hiking, and various other outdoor activities. –@RealSimbaJemwa
