NEW: Youths fight drug abuse

Youths Against Drugs and Substance Abuse Zimbabwe (YADSAZ) has partnered the Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board in fighting drug and substance abuse through sport.
On Friday, the two organisations will conduct a joint clean-up campaign in Harare’s high-density suburb of Glen View as part of efforts to stamp out drug and substance abuse among the youths.
Mr Mlilo Joyinani, the YADSAZ spokesperson, said the partnership with the boxing and wrestling board will go a long way in fighting drug and substance abuse.
“Our major focus is to have the youths occupied. Sport can be an effective tool in the fight against drug and substance abuse,” Mr Joyinani said.
In Harare South, YADSAZ is also coordinating a netball and soccer programme that has attracted most youths in this area.
Apart from the sporting activities, YADSAZ also works closely with social workers, counsellors, psychologists and other professionals involved in fighting drug and substance abuse.
