THE first group of Zimbabweans evacuated from conflict-plagued Sudan is set to arrive in the country on Friday.
The group, which comprises 44 people, left Port Sudan for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, before catching a flight home.
A second group comprising 21 people is expected in the country on Saturday evening.
In a statement on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said the first group will arrive at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport around 5 pm.
“The ministry will be receiving the first group of evacuees (44) from Sudan at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport today (Friday) at 5 pm,” reads the statement.
“A second group of 21 people is expected on Saturday at the same time, airline and venue. They are arriving from Jeddah aboard Emirates Airlines.”
