NEW: Zim makes strides on maternal mortality and morbidity

Zimbabwe has registered major strides in reducing both maternal morbidity and mortality, Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, who is also Minister of Health and Child Care, said on Monday.

Dr Chiwenga is leading Zimbabwe’s delegation to Thailand for the South-to-South Cooperation International Conference on Population and Development @30.

“Zimbabwe is working relentlessly to achieve zero preventable maternal deaths and maternal morbidities.

“Zimbabwe is experiencing a continuous downward trend in maternal mortality rate from 614 in 2014 to 462 deaths per 100 000 live births in 2019.”
