NEW: Zimbabwe snake bite cases increase

AT least 53 new snake bite cases were reported last week, bringing the total number of cases to 2 573 since the beginning of the year.

No deaths were recorded last week, maintaining a mortality rate of 13 deaths since the start of the year.

This is according to the Ministry of Health and Child Care disease surveillance report for the week ending May 19.

“A total of 53 snake bite cases and zero deaths were reported this week,” reads the report.

“The cumulative figures for snake bites are 2 573 cases and 13 deaths.”
