THE Zimbabwe Music Union (ZIMU) recently honoured several leisure spots, promoters and organisations in Bulawayo for providing safe performance spaces and platforms for local artists.
Palace Hotel, KoSamuriwo, Red Cafe, The Place, Vivo Safari, Intwasa Arts Festival, Kings Bible Church and Bulawayo Exclusive Events received certificates of appreciation.
The presentation ceremony was led by ZIMU’s top leadership, including chairperson Nkosiphile “Nkosi Nda” Sibanda, vice chairperson Ramsey K and treasurer Bongy Sibanda.
As a national union registered with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ), ZIMU plays a vital role in promoting and protecting the interests of musicians in Zimbabwe.
ZIMU is also an affiliate of the International Federation of Musicians (FIM), a global organisation headquartered in France with members across Africa, Europe and the Americas.
Through its affiliation with FIM, ZIMU heads the African group, which comprises members from East, West, Central and Southern Africa.
This further solidifies its position as a leading advocate for musicians’ rights in the region.
