NEW: Zinara to upgrade seven tollgates

Online Reporter

THE Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) is this year targeting to upgrade seven tollgates to toll plazas, in line with the National Development Strategy (NDS1)’s emphasis on infrastructure development.

In a statement, Zinara said upgrading tollgates to toll plazas is also in line with President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, which seeks to elevate Zimbabwe to an upper middle-income economy by 2030.

“In line with the Government’s thrust of infrastructure development, this year we are targeting to upgrade seven tollgates to toll plazas,” reads the statement.

Zinara said the upgrading of tollgates is also meant to tackle traffic congestion and improve revenue collection, while eradicating leakages.

The road administrator requires about US$22 million to upgrade all of the country’s tollgates into toll plazas.
